Current status of the Battleship New Jersey and other Society News![]() |
IMPORTANT: Society members meetings are now held twice a year. Meetings will be the third Tuesday of April and October. They have also been moved up a half-hour to 7PM.
The next Society meeting will be 7:00 PM, 18 October 2005, at The Marina Diner
Highway 36, Leonardo, NJ. Meetings are open to all Society members.
The Wild
Scallion is just up the road from Earle NWS, on the north side of Hwy 36, 7
miles east of the Garden State Parkway, exit 117.
The ship opened as a museum 15 October 2001. Click Here to see pictures.
The ship is located on the Camden waterfront behind the Tweeter Center (Formerly the E-Center) just south of the State Aquarium. Contact the Museum at 856-966-1652 for additional information.
On 10 August 2001 the Society and the Home Port Alliance signed a contract
giving the Society spaces aboard the ship to display artifacts and ship's
history. The area given to the Society is the ship's officers lounge.
Signing for the Society was president Vincent Falso, for the Alliance
executive director Admiral Thomas Seigenthaler. Also present were Society
trustees Stuart L. Chalkley, Gerald W. Gray, Paul T. Syers, Jr. and Gilbert
Yoffredo.
The ship was previously temporarily opened to visitors on August 9 and 10, 2000. Click Here to see pictures.

The Society is always looking for donations of memorabilia for display in our space aboard the ship. If you have an item or items you wish to donate, please contact Vince Falso, our president and memorabilia coordinator, at the Society: Box 1482, Union, NJ, 07083.
All donations will remain under the control of the Society.
